The work of the congregation is distributed among a small staff - pastor, church administrator, music director, and the dedicated preschool teachers - and the volunteer leadership of the Congregation Council. We are always looking for new volunteers for any of our teams!
Staff
The Rev. Chad Adamik, Guest Pastor
We are currently in the call process for our next pastor. While that process unfolds, we are incredibly grateful and fortunate that Pastor Chad Adamik has agreed to serve as Guest Pastor. Pastor Adamik is the son of John and Mary Adamik of Somerset, Ohio. He’s a graduate of Capital University and Trinity Lutheran Seminary, both in Columbus, Ohio, and has served as interim pastor in the Indiana-Kentucky and Rocky Mountain Synods of the ELCA. Prior to moving in Branford in September 2022, he served for six years as pastor of St. Paul's Lutheran Family in Carson City, Nevada. Pastor Adamik is married to the Rev. Father Thomas Blake who serves as Priest in Charge at Trinity Episcopal Church, Branford.
Chuck Stack, Director of Music
Charles (Chuck) Stack has both his bachelor's and master's degrees from Westminster Choir College of Princeton, NJ. At Westminster Chuck majored in church music, voice, and conducting and minored in organ. His oral exam thesis was on the use of brass instruments in worship. He has served in churches large and small as music director, director of music and youth, organist/director, and minister of music for more than 40 years. The churches served ranged in size from 300 members to 3500 members. In every instance Chuck worked with his groups to produce meaningful moving presentations. Some of the works and productions included Messiah (G.F. Handel), The Faure Requiem, Celebrate Life, John Rutter's Gloria, The Big Picture, David and the Giants, The Singing Bishop, Tell It Like It Is, and, most recently, Come to the Cross and Remember. Dawn Carafeno, Church Administrator
I have served Tabor since 2000 as Office Administrator. I’m a resident of Guilford where I live with my husband, Michael and three of my children, Emilie, Sophia and Sebastian. My other sons still reside in Missouri, where my family lived prior to moving to Connecticut in 2017. My son, Benjamin lives in Missouri with his wife, Crystal, and my two grandchildren, Gauge and Mali. My son, Ethan, lives in Moberly, Missouri. I’ve worked as a paralegal/office administrator for 35 years in various offices, including another church in Missouri. I find Tabor to be a place of warmth, mission and service, which is an ideal environment for me. I spend many hours volunteering in several areas of interest. I serve on the Board of two PTOs, provide educational enrichment classes to elementary schools on the shoreline, work as an advocate for progressive political issues, serve as the leader for a national gun violence prevention organization, and plan and implement a number of events in and around the shoreline. I enjoy cooking, baking, travel, reading, music and event-planning. I hope you will never hesitate to contact me if you have questions, suggestions or comments for Tabor Church.
Tabor Preschool
Our teachers are dedicated to providing an exciting environment for children to develop their social, emotional and academic skills. Tabor Preschool's purpose is to provide an alternative service in pre-school education incorporating a Christian influence in the daily experience. Recognizing that no two children are alike, we strive to nurture the individual child to discover his/her own talents and skills through experiential and problem solving situations. Our goal is to allow each child the opportunity for growth in self-awareness and self-confidence as they develop their ability to relate with others and their surroundings.
